Montreal - Ride an Opus bike on a guided tour!

Shea Mayer is the owner of Fitz & Follwell Co., a bicycle tour and rentals shop based in the Plateau, with a rental kiosk downtown at the Centre Infotouriste. Not just ordinary excursions, these tours combine history with the neighbourhood vibe that is normally exclusive to locals - think stops for bagels, poutine and gourmet coffee. You'll also find bicycle merchandise including helmets, baskets and wine-bottle holders. 115 Mont Royal Ave. W., 514-840-0739. fitzandfollwell. co

Stepping inside the shop, it's the bikes that immediately stand out. Are they for sale?
These are not for sale; we use them for our guided tours. They're also available for rental, so for an hourly, half-day, full-day, or week-long basis. But we do sell the bikes at the end of the rental season. We'll sell off the whole fleet.

How old will they be by then?
We purchased them in March, built them in April, so they've only been used for a maximum of six or seven months. We'll sell them in October, and we'll reinvest in a new fleet next spring.

fleet next spring. Why wouldn't you just keep them?
All of our bikes this season are from Opus, which is a Montreal-based company, so even though the majority of bikes are now made overseas in China or Taiwan, this was as local as we could get.

They're designed here; the majority is built in Canada, in Quebec. They are very nice bikes.
