Stepping inside the shop, it's the bikes that immediately stand out. Are they for sale?

These are not for sale; we use them for our guided tours. They're also available for rental, so for an hourly, half-day, full-day, or week-long basis. But we do sell the bikes at the end of the rental season. We'll sell off the whole fleet.

How old will they be by then?

We purchased them in March, built them in April, so they've only been used for a maximum of six or seven months. We'll sell them in October, and we'll reinvest in a new fleet next spring.

All of our bikes this season are from Opus, which is a Montreal-based company, so even though the majority of bikes are now made overseas in China or Taiwan, this was as local as we could get.

They're designed here; the majority is built in Canada, in Quebec. They are very nice bikes.

Review - Giro Ambient 2 and Pivot winter gloves

Giro’s Ambient 2 is one of our favorite performance (light) winter gloves because it provides exceptional dexterity and lots of warmth for its size. The only update for 2012 is reflective detailing on the back but it has also served as a starting point for the design of the new Pivot, a medium weight, waterproof equivalent.

The Pivot is slightly bulkier and less precise on fit, due to bunching of the X-Static insulation. However, it’s warmer and offers a waterproof back, via Pertex soft shell material made with the Hipora waterproof membrane. (The Ambient 2 uses a simple soft shell material that’s DWR treated to be water resistant).

We expect the Pivot to be useful to commuters in cold and rainy climates, but not those that freeze solid; think rain in the mid-40°s F (5°C). Racers will likely push the limits of the glove down well past freezing.

Whistler Blackcomb - Day 1 of 6

Patience — it's the one thing we all have to learn in the weeks leading up to winter. The anticipation is often unbearable as the weather taunts us with tell-tale signs that winter is on its way. For pro skier Mike Douglas, embedded at the top of Whistler Mountain, the anticipation is over and winter has arrived...big time. Follow Mike as he journeys to the Patrol Shack on Whistler Peak that will be his home-away-from-home for the next 6 days and nights, and follow his progress has he documents the Mountain's transformation and preparation for opening day.

Une belle fin de saison avec les Jeux PanAm

Good mooooorning!

Arrivé à 23h30 des Jeux PanAm, je me suis réveiller ce matin à 6h avec mon amoureux, évidemment les deux yeux dans la graisse de bines, mais le sourire aux lèvres car c'était mon premier petit déjeuner de journée congé et on a fait un toast pour conclure une longue saison de travail bien mérité !

Les PanAm on bien conclu la saison et peut-être avec vous eu la chance de lire le "sportcom" en début de semaine afin de savoir que j'ai terminé 5e ce weekend. J'ai été très contente de ma compétition et cela a conclue la saison sur une notre positive. Ça me donne déjà le goût de reprendre l'entraînement et de repartir à nouveau.....

Mais avant de me relancer dans une autre saison de triathlon, je vais prendre le mois de novembre pour bien récupération et m'assure qu'aucune blessure ne me suivre pour le début de mon dernier cycle d'entraînement vers les JO de Londres. Les premières compétitions de la saison vont être cruciales pour le reste de l'année à savoir si je serai sur l'équipe canadienne pour les prochains Jeux Olympiques. Mais puisque j'ai terminé ma saison sur une bonne note, je suis confiante en ce que l'avenir me réserve et je suis très excité de pouvoir continuer à travailler fort pour ce qui s'en vient!

L'Argentine m'attend le 14 janvier pour ma première compé de l'année...donc pas trop de tourtière pour moi pour le temps des fêtes!  ;)

Maintenant à la maison pour un petit bout, je tâcherai de bien me reposer afin de repartir comme une bombe l'an prochain.
