Helmetcam Film Festival Winning Films

The inaugural GoPro/Giro Helmetcam Film Festival at the Trips for Kids Vancouver’s annual Downbeat Fundraiser Event was an epic mix of mountain bike, surf and ski videos. A big thanks goes out to The North Face, GoPro, Giro, Pinkbike and the Georgia Straight for contributing to the success of this first time show. We will be building on this success and believe that this is a great concept to carry forward next year. Also a big thanks to Sterling Lorence for donating his slide show on his trip to Iceland for our audience.

The winning submission was “Kill Shots, Face Shots, Money Shots” by Lars Andrews. His video featured killer helmet and pole cam POV angles with some of the more epic deep pow and steep lines we’ve seen in a while. Lars takes home a new GoPro HD Helmet HERO camera for his winning video.

Second place went to Curtis Perrin for his “Pumptrack” video, a cool short film with good editing, fun-looking riding, and some creative angles. Curtis is the proud new owner of a Giro Remedy helmet for his film.

Huge thanks to those who submitted videos and everyone who came out to Downbeat to support Trips for Kids Vancouver. This year we raised in excess of $10,000 due in large part to your generosity. Overall the event was a huge success and makes us realize that we are fortunate to have the partnerships and support from local businesses, throughout the bike industry and from individuals who believe in Trips for Kids and what we are trying to do.

Thanks!
Trips for Kids Vancouver
