Lieux : Californie, USA
Étape 4 : Livermore à San Jose
Type : Course sur route
Distance : 131,6km
Nombre de coureurs :  142
Site web : www.amgentourofcalifornia.com

Lieux : Californie, USA
Étape 3 : Auburn à Modesto – 196,2km
Type : Course sur route
Distance : 196,2km
Nombre de coureurs : 144
Site web : www.amgentourofcalifornia.com

Giro Xar review

Trailburn just finished a review of the new Giro Xar MTB helmet.

Here's two quotes from the review:

Thankfully, the research that goes into Giros helmets is second to none and they consistently have the more well constructed and fitting helmets on the market and the Xar lives up to this expectation.
it is really light and has a more svelte road-race type of feel to it. Aggressive and fast riders find comfort in beefy products and the Xar is on the XC side of aggressive riding helmets when wearing a full-faced helmet is not necessary or overkill for the style of riding.

Trailburn is giving four stars to the Xar.

Lieux : Californie, USA
Étape 2 : Nevada City à Sacramento
Type : Course sur route
Distance : 214,4km
Nombre de coureurs : 144
Site web : www.amgentourofcalifornia.com

Bell Rider Aaron Gwin Wins DH World Cup #1 in South Africa

First World Cup win for an American man since Shawn Palmer in ‘99

PIETERMARITZBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
First year Bell Rider Aaron Gwin made his debut count becoming the first American to win a World Cup downhill in more than a decade, taking the opening round of the 2011 series in South Africa on Easter Sunday. Though his rapid rise to the top of the podium may have startled some, one guy likely not surprised is his trainer and fellow Bell guy—mountain bike legend John Tomac. Known for his rare combination of top-caliber BMX skills and a world class cross country motor, Tomac was one to watch on “pedaly” downhill tracks. If Gwin’s  split times on the track’s pedal-heavy mid-section are any indication, Tomac has imparted the importance of such to his new protégé.  Gwinny was also dialed on the track’s many tabletop, double and step-down jumps, keeping it low-and-fast where many competitors were going a little too big. While many chose to kick-out wide on the course’s penultimate step-down, Gwin kept it tight to the inside, eeking out a few tenths of a second that would prove critical.

When he hit the finish line, Gwin’s time was an astonishing seven seconds faster than then-leader Steve Peat’s, but a few riders later, a hard-charging Greg Minaar would come within three-tenths of a second, leaving the defending champ and home-country favorite in silver medal position. Great Britan’s Gee Atherton was third on the day at a deficit of nearly two seconds.

Another Bell Rider—top-qualifier Mick Hannah—was expected to challenge for the win, but crashed hard on the top section of the track, snapping his stem bolts and bruising his leg. Though a bit hobbled, Hannah is expected to be 100 percent for round two at Fort William, Scotland in early June.

Other Bell finishers included New Zealand’s Justin Leov 11 seconds back in 28th place and Céline Gros who finished sixth on the women’s side, some four seconds behind winner Tracy Moseley.

If you’d like to see Aaron’s winning run, you can watch a replay from your home computer on Freecaster TV at this link:

Aaron’s run starts at 106:39 in the webcast.

Mack Jones featuring in Voleurz "Cat Skiing"

Thanks again for those lenses, they are working out great! I just wanted to update you on how the past week or so has gone out here in Whistler! So after a week of hard work filming with Voleurz for the Intersection film contest, we ended up winning on the big night and it was most definitely a great result for such a long week. I'm really happy with how it worked out and the video ended up being pretty funny as well!

Stoked! After that ended, I went down to Grouse yesterday for a sunset jump shoot on the Alterna jump which was awesome. It was my first time to Grouse and we ended up getting some cool shots and having a blast lapping the jump and its soft landing. That's basically what I've been up to this week in Whistler, heading out on Tuesday.

Hope all is well!

Kevin Sandau - End of season

Well the ski season is all said and done. The end of March consisted of lots of racing action, with the Canadian National Championships in Canmore, and the US Super Tour in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Having this years Nationals on home turf was a great advantage. After the back and forth travelling from Europe and Canada in January and February, it was a nice break to be able to stay at home and prepare for these races.

The big goal for the week was to bring home my first ever medal from a Canadian Championship, something that has eluded me for the past seven years. Last year in Whitehorse I came close with a 5th place finish, but after some very strong results earlier this season I was confident I could finally walk on to the podium.

The 10km skate race was the first race of four and perhaps one of my favourites. Although a bit shorter than what I prefer, the course was hard enough to make up some good time. After everyone crossed the finish, I ended up 3rd, and just 20 seconds from the top. Other highlights from the week was my 3rd place finish in the 50km, after which the season usually comes to an end, but not this year. I packed up my things one last time and drove down to Sun Valley for the US Nationals 50km, and the Super Tour Finals.

Surprisingly my body wasn't feeling too bagged from the 50km in Canmore, and the 50km across the border went very well. After having to fight back up to the front mid-way through the race, and then fighting to hang on with the leader, I finished 2nd. In the Super Tour, I finished 3rd in the 15km individual day, and placed 8th overall after all four races.

Now that it's April, it's time to relax and enjoy some sun. Training starts back up in early May, so I have to cram in as much relaxation as possible! Thanks for the support over the past years, I really appreciate it, and hope to continue it next season.
